When an LG TV may need software recovery
Freezing on the splash screen, repeated reboots, slow menu performance, and app errors may be related to webOS system software. However, one symptom does not prove a software fault: similar behavior can occur with power supply, motherboard, or memory issues. That’s why at TV Repair by Meryosab, the likely cause is identified first, and then the recovery method is agreed upon.
Wi-Fi, remote control, voice control, channel, and Smart TV issues are also common reasons for contacting support. Before flashing the firmware, it's important to rule out router and network problems, remote control batteries and pairing, channel settings, region, and individual apps. An interrupted update is one possible cause of software corruption, but without diagnostics it can't be assumed to be the cause of every failure.
Which TVs we accept
We work with LG TVs from the UHD, NanoCell, Smart TV, and OLED series, including webOS models. Whether a specific procedure is possible depends on the full model designation, hardware revision, installed software version, and device condition. Not every webOS version or model supports the same recovery methods.
What is included in the service
After the initial check, the technician chooses the appropriate path: a standard over-the-air (OTA) update, a USB drive update if supported by the manufacturer, or a service recovery procedure available for the specific device. If the TV won't boot, it is checked whether recovery is possible without component-level repair. Work on the bootloader and memory chips is performed only after the need and technical feasibility have been confirmed.
Firmware files are selected based on the exact model and hardware platform compatibility; firmware from a visually similar TV may prove unsuitable. Rolling back to an older webOS version should not be considered a standard or guaranteed procedure: limitations depend on the model and update mechanism. Where possible, data and settings are preserved, but a reset or recovery may result in their deletion; users are warned about this before work begins.
After recovery, stable startup, menu operation, Wi-Fi, apps, and channel setup are checked within the available signal and connection conditions.
How the request works
- Contact the repair shop by phone or WhatsApp, or message us on Telegram. Provide the full model from the label (e.g., OLED65C21 or 55UR8050) and describe how the TV behaves.
- The technician performs diagnostics and determines whether there are signs of a software or hardware fault.
- Before work begins, the scope and cost are agreed upon. The exact price is determined after diagnostics.
- After the agreed restoration, the TV is tested before handover. Warranty terms are set based on the work performed.
What you can safely check before contacting us
Check the power outlet connection and that other devices work in it, make sure the remote control is working, and if there are network issues, check the Wi-Fi on your phone. If the TV opens the menu, note the installed software version and exact model. Do not install files for another model, do not interrupt an update that has started, and do not open the casing: dangerous voltages can remain inside even after unplugging from the mains.
